Natural killer T (NKT) cells are lymphocytes that express both a T-cell and natural killer cell receptors and need antigen presentation in the context of MHC to recognize and respond to foreign material. NKT cell immune functions include the surveillance for tumors, the maintenance of self-tolerance and the regulation of autoimmunity. Cells are sourced from healthy donors from world-renowned blood institutions using Institutional Review Board (IRB)-approved consent forms and protocols. Donors are screened for HIV-1, HIV-2, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, human T-lymphotropic virus, syphilis, Chagas and West Nile virus.
